Stretch Clock Wednesday, Jun 29 2011

http://www.stretchclock.com/

It may seem silly stupid … found myself groaning each time it came up then ever so glad for the pause and stretch once completed.  The work computer was replaced for the third time, something about needing more “umph” for my work load.   All the personal links, bookmarks and tags gone, again.  Today I tripped upon this again and realize, I MISS IT!

Maybe it is silly stupid … but it sure helps with the stress.  Download one of the timers / gadgets and see for yourself.

Nothing so horrible as that. The work is a breeze and I like it. But there are three ladies in the office
 - an office of 5 females working 8 - 5 - who do not favor me, one being my direct report.
I was able to handle the MUST be on time and punch in Exactly at 8:30 and punch out EXACTLY at 5pm with
 Exactly a 1/2 hour lunch.
Was able to handle all the little things thrown at me.
But when my vacation request was denied because I was not allowed to use Time W/O Pay (that I'd
negotiated would be okay when I came on board - but she does not recall it that way ~UGH - did not get
it in writing~ Which means the cruise in September that is paid for is NADA. The personnel manual
specifically says you an request time off w/o pay but the supervisor must approve it. The higher-ups
like me LOTS. They enjoy the professionalism I bring and that I don't flirt with the firefighters or
gossip with everyone. But playing this game or asking my Boss (whom is the President of the Board) of
to overrule my Direct Report is just getting old and only pisses the Direct Report gal off more.
So I look while employed and in an ambling relaxed way.

Sometimes, it is best to move on.  Tis time for me.  At this age and with Sunny's needs to consider, it is best this way so I may pick and choose a job that suits my need.  Already sent my resume in for a position making twice what I currently do here.  The higher stress level is not as worrying as it once was.  It's been a good 2 1/2 year break.

The Lusty Month of May Friday, Jun 3 2011

May is over now.  An though this year the month was grand it also found exhaustion in it’s wake.

Of the pluses were a seemingly week-long birthday/Mother’s Day!  Schedules being what they were one and all were found hither and yon, not the least of which was a two day Human Resources Symposium where yours truly accumulated 11 CEU’s toward re-certification.  The complete week was great.  Thanks to all the family and friends which made it so.

The U.S. Memorial three day weekend MH2, Sunny and I traveled to Louisiana to visit Grammy. To make the 6 hour trip tolerable after 12 hours of work a stop at a historic 100 year old hotel in the old town square of Jasper, Texas USA halfway there was a perfect break!  Sunny has her own bedroom for the first time in a hotel.  The host and hostess were gracious, the night air still cool enough for reading time on the porch with RudyDog at my feet.

Arriving at Grammy’s, the self same Grammy whom two years ago had shoulder surgery, was a delight!  Though she is getting weaker as the years move on, her spirit was high.  Sunny ran through the huge  countryside yards with a neighbor’s child.  A huge BBQ brisket lunch on Sunday at my step-sisters and we left for home on Monday morning.

Traveling this time really took a lot out of me.  Must build strength.  Days are already reaching 100°F.  My garden is wilting before my eyes.  The three days gone last weekend withered everything but the bell pepper and jalapeno plants.

Summer has arrived, Sunny has passed the 4th grade and we look forward to good things to come.  She’ll attend Summer Camp most weeks at the gym.

Whereas there have been many many thoughts of things to place here, by the end of the day my brain is gearing off of things of work and computers and onto things of home-life.

If you wait until you feel confident about a big venture (or adventure), you may never do it.
