Thursday 09/11/2008 Attack happened in the evening aprox 9:30ish. Lee called me and I met him at the emergency center. Sugery’s happened that night.
Friday 09/12/2008 before the storm Ike got to bad #1 and I visited Rudy at the hospital, still hurting way to bad and was in an ICU kennel with heat pads and oxegen. Left him there. Ike began to roll through with a fever at 8:30 PM and at 10pm we lost power till Tuesday.
Saturday 09/13/2008 after the storm passed and enough roads were cleared I had a friend with a four wheeled drive truck bring me to the hospital to check on Rudy. When I arrived it was a madhouse and they were sending everyone to Texas A&M 2 hours away for their generator power was going out. The doctor fairly threw Rudy into my arms to take away and tend to.
Sunday 09/14/2008 Rudy eating from my hand and hobbling around the house, but mostly I hold him and carry him everywhere, he is in so much pain. Lee says the neighbor put down his two pit bulls. The storm has left him and most of his neighbors fenceless.
Monday 09/15/2008 No work and Rudy stays sleeping most of the day. He will stand and eat from the bowls! My friend opened the dog of can food and thinking it was bean dip got a huge scoop on a chip and liked to gag!
Tuesday 09/16/2008 Bring back to the hospital to remove drain tubes but they say he is still draining to much ooze to remove. Okay, so ooze is not a medical term. *shrugs*
Thursday 09/17/2008 Still to much ooze to remove tubes. But Rudy is moving, eating, drinking and practially running about. And he BARKED today! first time since the attack!
On Saturday 09/20/2008 I had Rudy’s drain tubes taken out. It had been seven days, but the swelling was so bad they would not take out the stitches. Even with the swelling the little tyke was a trooper!
Phoned Lee to tell him the status.
Sunday 09/21/2008 Begin to ache over decision to keep Rudy dispite the loss of freedom. He climbs up and down the stairs with little or no hesitation.
Monday 09/22/2008 Swelling down. He almost RUNS down the stairs! #1 will bring to the Vet tomorrow and get his stitches out.
Tuesday 09/23/2008 Stitches out. All is well. Vet pleased with his progress. The wounds continue to weep and she wants hot compresses once a day on them to keep them flowing so there is not a gathering of puss under his skin. #1 tells me Lee has twittered he will never see Rudy again.
*sighs* That’s all I need, is the heartache of what would make Lee feel good and my wish to take care of the dog. I will keep him. And will put his ownership into the divorce papers, if I ever get around to them. OH! and since Lee made the post the same day I first posted about Rudy, I know he is reading this blog.
THE GOOD NEWS is the dog is on the mend and doing well. Thanks all for the support!
